BFD's: Best Fictional Duos
Top Five.
5. Carrigan/Dibbs (Casper, 1995)
Not really the most friendly duo on this list. Carrigan is clearly the one who wears the pants in this relationship. As to WTH kind of relationship they have though is a complete mystery. And so is the reason of why Dibbs keeps taking Carrigan's constant load of BS. Either way, it's entertaining as heck to watch for some reason though. Dibbs is also just a bit stupid so it just adds to the whole thing.
4. Arthur/Ford (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, 2005)
Ford actually seems like someone I would love to hang out with. He always keeps his cool and is never afraid to have a great time, no matter the circumstances. He will always help his friends out as well. Combine that with just Zaphod and the movie might have totally spun out of control into utter chaos. But Arthur is there to anchor everything down in SOME sort of reality. Arthur is, of course, someone the audience can reflect with at least somewhat and actually does a good job of this. Together, they form a great base for the whole movie/book.
3. Banjo/Kazooie (Banjo-Kazooie Franchise)
Any gamer worth his salt will know these two. Banjo is a kind, adventurous bear who loves sleeping and eating. But just having him though throughout the entire game would be BORING. So what do we do? Why, add a character that's the complete polar opposite of him of course! Enter Kazooie. A loud-mouthed bird with a not-much-incentive-for-me-to-fight-fairly, IDGAF attitude. I've heard people say before that Banjo kind of weighs Kazooie down. But that's kind of the point. If we had nothing but snark, snark, snark for the entire game, that would get boring as well. Like Arthur, Banjo is there to offset Kazooie, making sure, as a character, that all things are in moderation. And that's where this duo really shines. Apart, they're nothing too extraordinary, but together, they're something else indeed. Hats off to Rare for this one.
2. Miguel/Tulio (The Road to El Dorado, 2000)
Nothing too special here. Just two thieves trying to score it big. It's their friendship here though that draws my eyes. OK, also the humor. Still though, throughout the movie, we see that though differences can set people apart by a mile, its that friendship that will endure and survive if it's strong enough. There's not really much else to say here but it's something pretty important. Especially now when things are starting to become hard and are just getting harder all the time. We have to learn to stick together or else we won't have anyone there for us when we inevitably fall.
1. Frodo/Sam (The Lord of the Rings)
Sam: I wonder if people will ever say, 'Let's hear about Frodo and the Ring.' And they'll say 'Yes, that's one of my favorite stories. Frodo was really courageous, wasn't he, Dad?' 'Yes, my boy, the most famousest of hobbits. And that's saying a lot.'
Frodo: [continue walking] You've left out one of the chief characters - Samwise the Brave. I want to hear more about Sam.
[stops and turns to Sam]
Frodo: Frodo wouldn't have got far without Sam.
Sam: Now Mr. Frodo, you shouldn't make fun; I was being serious.
Frodo: So was I.
I think perhaps, in the back of your mind, you knew this was gonna make the top. And if you've read the books or seen the movies, you won't need me to explain why. Frodo seems a great leader, and Sam is the perfect support. Just think. At every turn, Sam was watching Frodo's back. Always making sure he never suffered needlessly. Always there to lend any help when asked. And Frodo just led. He dragged that accursed ring who knows how many miles. And almost always steadfast. It's the perfect example of a bromance. And that, my people, is how a friendship is done.

- Spoiler:
- Especially entertaining to watch too when Dibbs finally betrays the wench.
